Color Therapy
Are you attracted to some colors more than others? This is because the energy vibration of that color may be lacking. The body seeks the deficient color in order to achieve a balanced state.
Everything is made up of electromagnetic energy vibrating at different frequencies that correspond to sound, light and color. The human aura is also made up of electromagnetic energy. Also known, as chromo therapy, color therapy is an ancient form of therapy. Color therapy is classified as a vibrational healing modality. It can never be used a substitute for sound medical advice.
Traditional color wisdom:
Traditional color wisdom—reaching as far back as ancient Egyptian times—offers similar conclusions, though based on a very different, non-scientific approach. In classical Indian philosophy, for example, the seven colors of the rainbow are associated with the seven chakras (or energy centers) of the body. Each chakra is related to a specific body function and has specific effects. According to color therapy, colors are capable of influencing many aspects of our lives, including our mood, mental state and energy level. Each color is thought to be associated with one of seven energy centers, or chakras, in Ayurveda. If a person's chakra is thought to be out of balance or weak, the color it's associated with is believed to help strengthen it. The principal of color therapy is based upon the individual's chakras, or energy center. If the chakra is blocked, optimum performance may be impaired. If the chakra is balanced with respect to energy levels, then optimum well being may be obtained. Color therapy uses color and light to improve well being, by balancing colors of the light spectrum.

What is a color?
Color is energy consisting of different wavelengths. According to Dr. Max Lüscher, a Swiss professor of psychology, color therapy originated in pre history when human lives were governed by day and night, light and dark. The metabolic activity in living beings increase during the day and decrease during night. In the late 1950s, the color researcher Robert Gerard took this a step further. He noted that in human beings, both psychological and physical activity appears to increase as the wavelength of the light increases. Thus warm colors like red, orange and yellow are related to increased activities and the dark hues like violet, purple and blue are related to decreased metabolic activity.
Chakras and color:
A Chakra is like a spiral of energy, each one relating to the others. Chakra (pronounced sha-kra) is the Sanskrit word for ' wheel '. If you can imagine the main chakras / energy centers as a set of cogs/wheels, they are rather like the workings of a clock or an engine; each cog /wheel needs to move smoothly and at a similar speed for the clock / engine to work properly. Thus good health and well being is achieved by a balance of all these energies (or the smooth running of the cogs/wheels). Each of the spectrum colors is simply light of varying wavelengths, thus each color has its own particular energy. The energy relating to each of these spectrum colors resonates with the energy of each of the seven main chakras of the body. Color therapy can help to re balance these 'wheels' by applying the appropriate color to the body and therefore re-balance our chakras. Listed below is each of the spectrum colors and the chakra, which it relates to. Violet has the shortest wavelength and red the longest wavelength.
Red: Red is linked to Mooladhara or Root chakra. It is associated with Vitality, Energy and Courage. This color stimulates physical energy and strengthens will power.
Orange: Orange is linked to Swadisthana or Spleen chakra. It is associated with Independence, Happiness and Confidence. This color stimulates appetite and digestive system, removes inhibitions and promotes sociability.
Yellow: Is linked to Manipura or Navel chakra. It is associated with Awareness, Wisdom and Clarity. It energizes, improves memory, relieves depression and influences digestive system.
Green: Is linked to Anahata or Heart chakra. It is associated with Love, Peace and Balance. It soothes and relaxes an individual both mentally and physically. It helps alleviate depression, nervousness and anxiety.
Blue: Is linked to Vishuddi or Throat chakra. It lowers blood pressure and decreases respiration. It is ideal for inducing sleep and reduces hyper activity. It enhances verbal expression, communication and artistic expression.
Indigo: Is linked to Agya or Third eye chakra. It is associated with Intuition, Imagination and Understanding. It helps in cleansing and purification of the body. It strengthens immune system and lymph system.
Violet: Is linked with Sahasrara or Crown chakra. It is associated with Creativity, Wisdom and Inspiration. It suppresses appetite, promotes inner strength and kindness. It encourages spirituality, intuition, mental strength and focus.
